Despite the fact that the Slovenian coast measures just under 47 kilometers, it always surprises both foreign and domestic visitors. Many people immediately think of the sea, the beach, sunbathing, etc, when referring to the Slovenian coast, but it offers many other interesting activities.
For all lovers of hiking and cycling, the Slovenian coast is a perfect destination. The former Parenzana railway line, also known as the Path of Health and Friendship, offers a great opportunity for longer walks from Izola to Portorose. We like to recommend it to cyclists especially, as it provides a pleasant ride with an exceptional view of the vineyards. If you decide to visit Izola, Strunjan, Portorose or Piran, driving along the mentioned route is a great choice, as you will simply enjoy the ride from town to town.
If you like to explore and visit the sights, we definitely recommend visiting older parts of the city, for example in Piran, Izola or Koper, where every corner of the city is special. In each of the coastal cities you are sure to find something that will grab your attention. After walking around the city, you can relax in one of the city cafes, which offer excellent coffee, ice cream and cakes. We kindly recommend a visit to the Marezige Wine Fountain, just 10 kilometers from Koper, where you can drink and eat with an amazing view.
If you would like to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the embrace of nature, we suggest a visit to Ankaran, which is very famous for its shell cemetery and beautiful beach. There are over 200 different species of snails on the mussel bed, making it a great location for photography and exploration. In addition to Ankaran, the Škocjan Bay Nature Reserve will offer you peace and relaxation, but if you want to pamper yourself a bit more, we definitely recommend the natural SPA Lepa Vida, located in the Sečovlje Salina Landscape Park.
A weekend break on the Slovenian coast is always a good decision. You can do a lot of different things in less than two days, as you always have different activities close by. We definitely suggest that you take more time to visit the coastal cities and really feel the pulse of the cities. Especially in the spring, and of course in the summer, the Slovenian coast gets a special charm that simply impresses with positive energy.
It often happens that accommodation is rented out very quickly in the summer and booked in advance, which can lead to an unwelcome event - you want to book a summer vacation on the coast, and all accommodation is already occupied. We strongly recommend that you plan your accommodation as soon as possible if you are planning a holiday on the Slovenian coast.
